Eight landing areas make up the Jump Iceland operation beyond the home drop zone at Skaftafell. This page collects every site — its ground, hazards and readiness — in one place for planning through September 2026.

Skaftafell

Home DZ

TBC — Home DZ

Role: Primary drop zone and aircraft base for the operation
Access: Road 1, Skaftafell Airport (BISF)
Ground: Grass / gravel airfield
Notes: All flights originate here; used as the fallback for every signature landing

Fjallsárlón

Ground: Outwash flat on the moraine between the lagoon and the glacier
Surface: Gravel and silt — dry underfoot away from the shore
Hazards: Calving fronts to the north, ice shelf, lagoon water beyond the target
Approach: Fly out over the viewpoint ridge, final into the flat with the glacier behind the canopy
Backup: Return to Skaftafell

Diamond Beach

Ground: Black sand spit between the Jökulsárlón outlet and the sea
Surface: Firm wet sand near the waterline; soft dry sand further up
Hazards: Tide, surf, beached ice blocks, tourists on the beach
Approach: From the east over the outlet, final along the waterline into the marked zone
Backup: Breiðamerkursandur flats / Skaftafell

Núpstaðaskógur

Lakagígjar

Surface: Volcanic ash and moss — soft, excellent for stand-up landings
Hazards: Protected nature reserve — permit required, no ground vehicles off track
Notes: The 1783–84 fissure eruption site; the most visually distinct landing on the list

Bláhylur
